Atlas of Small Animal Wound Management and Reconstructive Surgery 4th Edition PDF. Veterinary plastic and reconstructive surgery has evolved remarkably since my graduation from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974.
Atlas of Small Animal Wound Management and Reconstructive Surgery 4th Edition PDF
The surgical textbook used at this time devoted a few pages to the rudimentary concepts of skin grafting and skin flaps: there was no lecture on the subject. Since my first edition of the Atlas in 1999, this field of surgery has continued to expand.
The veterinary plastic and reconstructive surgical techniques developed, in turn, have supported the growth in the subspecialty area of surgical oncology. The techniques included in this fourth edition allow us to more successfully manage many of the challenging traumatic wounds, structural congenital disorders, and surgical defects secondary to tumor resection.
I have attempted to select the most relevant techniques and references for this fourth edition. I also include my personal observations in wound care and closure, based on my research and clinical experience.
There are a number of new plate illustrations supported with additional case‐based photographs to facilitate the understanding and execution of these surgical procedures. You will note the illustrations have been colorized to better clarify each technique.
Along with a variety of new techniques, you will also note a new chapter devoted to surgery of the pinna. Information provided in the first seven chapters complements the remaining chapters, allowing for a better understanding of the variety of methods that can be employed to close a given wound.
I trust the reader will find this book practical, informative, and a single‐source reference for the surgical restoration of our small animal patients.
