Fundamentals of Canine Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology PDF
Although the emphasis throughout this book is on neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, most chapters contain information that explains the clinical relevance of the subjects. Such information helps the application of the anatomical and functional knowledge to neurologic problems. This is especially true for the first‐year veterinary students with limited clinical experience. Fundamentals of Canine Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology results from the expansion of a syllabus used for many years at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
It evolved over the years to meet the needs of our first‐year veterinary neuroanatomy and neurophysiology course. Since structure and function of the nervous system, like any other body system, are so intimately linked, understanding one is not complete without some knowledge of the other. Accordingly, this book incorporates essential neurophysiology into appropriate neuroanatomy chapters.
To assist clarification of the text and the visualization of structural and functional bases of neuroanatomy, 334 line drawings, photographs, micro-graphs, and magnetic resonance images are included in this book. For example, some dissected brains are shown with corresponding magnetic resonance images. Micrographs of the spinal cord and brain stem are accompanied with illustrations, and many figures have color line drawings to emphasize the key structural and functional components. Multiple‐choice questions are included at the end of each chapter to help readers assess their understanding of the subjects covered in each chapter.
