Equine Ophthalmology 3rd Edition, A goal of Equine Ophthalmology has always been to provide a comprehensive source of information to assist veterinarians in the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases in horses.
Equine Ophthalmology 3rd Edition
To assist this effort, the authors of individual chapters have included numerous images, figures, and detailed treatment plans. However, it is the responsibility of each practitioner to verify dosages and treatments for each individual horse. Also, most figures in this new edition have been redrawn from the second edition to improve clarity and accuracy.
Another goal of this book is to provide a comprehensive source of information and references to assist with research and publications in equine ophthalmology. I believe the previous editions of equine ophthalmology have been extremely helpful as a source of information and the basis of clinical studies, and I am sure that this new edition will be even better.
A final goal of Equine Ophthalmology is simply to provide education for all of us—from students to specialists. I have learned a tremendous amount from the incredible knowledge and experience of the authors of this new edition.
There are numerous changes in this third edition of Equine Ophthalmology. With the expanded content and information available on equine ocular disorders, we have provided online supplementary materials, including expanded content and figures to augment the print and digital versions of the textbook. Please see links in the text to view the expanded online content. We have new authors in many chapters, including the orbit, cornea, glaucoma, posterior segment, and inherited disease.
I thank the authors of these chapters in previous editions who have provided the basis for these important chapters. In addition, there are new chapters for this third edition, including advanced diagnostics, foal ophthalmology, neuro‐ophthalmology, and national and international regulations, and an expanded chapter on inherited ocular disease. These new chapters reflect the growing knowledge and importance of these subject areas in equine ophthalmology.
This is an excellent comprehensive textbook on equine ophthalmology, which I am very proud of—I hope you enjoy it as much as we have putting it together and I hope it is a constant resource to assist you in the management of your equine cases.
